In an interesting turn of events, it appears (at least at my first look) that the Amazon store only blocks based you on your IP address location.
When I use my 'home' IP address, I can't order books like "The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown" or "Cross Country by James Patterson".
However, when I connect my VPN to one of our US based concentrators and am given an IP in the US space, i'm able to get the sample chapters just fine!

It will at least be interesting to see how it pans out.
I'm also hoping that the PDF support doesn't suck too much, if nothing else I could use a decent PDF reader, albeit a pretty damn expensive one!

I live in Australia and got my shipping notification this morning too. Am also having doubts - same situation here regarding availability.

I wonder if we should just boycott the Amazon kindle format and download e-books and 'mobi' format files?
