Success! Well, kind of….

This evening/morning I ripped out everything i’d previously done, so deleted all of the compiled apps and folders (eg. LLVM, arm-apple-darwin, /usr/local/share/iphone-filesystem) and started from scratch.

I even reinstalled XCode tools to make sure that the SDKs where installed correctly.

After going back through the steps in my post yesterday, i’ve been able to make the HelloWorld example UIKit app and get it working on the iPhone. What I *HAVEN’T* done today, that I did last night, is muck about with the 1.1.2 headers from TUAW. So I guess i’m currently running the 1.1.1 toolchain.

I’ve had a very quick play around with the HelloWorld app and a couple of string changes later had compiled my very first (albeit completely ripped off!) iPhone app - HelloMacca! :)

I didn’t say it was very complicated!!!

Getting it to show up on the ‘Home’ page was as simple as creating a folder called HelloMacca.app under the Applications folder and dropping the binary in there. I also put the (edited) plist.info file in there, as the other directories have one. I’ll need to find out what that is/does tomorrow!
Also on the todo list is to work out how to get an icon there instead of that skanky grey looking default.

As you can see, it’s past 03:22 and i’m completely knackered.

Onwards and upwards with the ObjC and UIKit development tomorrow, hurrah.
